Alton Materials, along with its partner Recycling Consultants, gives you access to the best, most capable rail crews on the job today. Manned by our highly-trained employees, our rail crews perform rail take-up and clean-up along mainlines of class one and short-line railroads. We have the capability of running 4-5 rail crews at a time, consisting of 3-4 men per crew. Each crew is equipped with a Hi-rail truck, torches used for cutting rail and all safety equipment appropriate for protecting our men and the rail yards.

Our crews also specialize in the identification of qualifications of rail, including Reroll Rail, Relay Rail and 2’ OTM (Foundry Grade). Depending on the condition and type of material, they’ll determine if each load will meet the specifications required from the steel mill in which the material is sent.

And we know time is crucial when it comes to track time, trucking and market deadlines. In order to get from point A to point B in a timely manner, we enforce strong communication between our crew supervisor, our broker, our logistics manager and the location manager at the job site. We’ve spent years refining these operations in order to perform at peak efficiency and effectiveness on every job we perform, and it shows.

Having our own rail crews, along with taking on the administrative duties and brokering associated with your rail scrap, means you spend less time stressing over its management and more time focusing on other matters.
